Glen Rovers tagged on three points on the trot by Evan Murphy and Luke Horgan. Conor Griffin found the net for Shandrum after a long free by impressive Cormac O’Brien.

On the resumption Shandrum had early points by Paul O’Sullivan and Conor Griffin (free). Luke Horgan pointed a Glen free before Shandrum edged ahead by a point when Conor Griffin goaled after good play by Cathal Bowles Ben O’Connor and Daniel O’Connor 2-4 to 0- 9. Six minutes into this half Glen levelled through Ryan Long.

Shandrum keeper Eoin Finn saved well from Darragh Milner.

Points by impressive Evan Murphy and Luke Horgan had Glen Rovers 0-12 to 2- 4 clear after 40 minutes. Conor Griffin kept Shandrum in touch with a free. In the 45th minute Luke Horgan had Glen’s second goal 1-12 to 2- 5.

Conor Griffin levelled from a difficult free and he followed with a brilliant goal 3- 6 to 1-12 in the 49th minute. Good play by impressive centre back Cormac O’Brien led to a third goal by Conor Griffin with just nine minutes to go.

Glen Rovers replied immediatel­y with a Luke Horgan goal that had the sides level for the 4th time 4-6 to 2-12.Conor Griffin gave the Avondhu side the lead with a free. Evan Murphy levelled from a difficult free.

They were also deadlocked at 4 -8 to 2-14. There was seven minutes injury time played. In this period Glen Rovers did very well. Evan Murphy had two pointed frees after two great catches.

Deep in injury time Shandrum forced a ‘65. Eoin Finn their keeper was instructed they had to get a goal with the final puck of the game. The ball went just over the bar and Glen Rovers were winners by a single point.
