Killavulle­n just edge out Ballycosgr­y Rovers

point. Tom Hanley levelled with Colin O’Brien giving the Rovers the lead. In the 10th minute Jack O’Connor levelled. Colin O’Brien edged his side ahead with Sean Kelly placing Tom Hanley for another point.

In the 15th minute Eoghan Buckley worked well for impressive team captain Paul O’Sullivan who pointed. The Rovers had rapid points by Adam Curtin and Sean Kelly that opened up a three point lead 0-7 to 0-4.

Seamus Fox made some great clearances for Killavulle­n. Jack O’Connor pointed a free with Colin O’Brien replying 0-8 to 0-5.

Both sides exchanged a point before Eoghan Buckley and Jack O’Connor (free) levelled at 0-8 each after 24 minutes. Ballycosgr­y keeper Gearoid O’Shea saved well from James Fitzpatric­k By the 29th minute the sides were level at 0-9 each. In injury time Thomas Foley with a great point gave his side an interval lead 0-10 to 0- 9.

On the resumption Seamus Fox levelled for the sixth and last time with a long range point. From here on Killavulle­n did very well. They had the next three points in quick succession by Jack O’Regan, Eoghan Buckley and Jack O’Connor (free) by the 42nd minute.

Ballycosgr­y Rovers came close to a goal when Thomas Foley put Tom Hanley through only to be denied by a point blank save by Cian Lankford with the rebound going over.

Killavulle­n lost Michael Fresh to a hand injury, but held the lead till the end. Ballycosgr­y missed some good frees. By the 50th minute Killavulle­n led 0-14 to 0-12. Colin O’Brien with a pointed free cut the lead to the minimum.

Paul O’Sullivan made a great run and was fouled with O’Connor regaining the two point lead with four minutes to go 0-15 to 0-13.

Ballycosgr­y’s Colin O’Brien gained possession from the puck-out and he placed Luke Crowley for a point from a tight angle. Michael Fresh came back on at full-forward for Killavulle­n in the closing minutes. Jack O’Connor was unerring from frees and made it 0-16 to 0-14 entering injury time.

Killavulle­n had two wides with Colin O’Brien pointing a free in the dying moments of injury time.

Rovers had a chance of forcing extra time but a difficult free went narrowly wide. After the game Sean McAuliffe Chairman Rebel Og North presented the cup to the winning captain Paul O’Sullivan.
