Dromtariffe target the County Hurling League title
A BUSY few weeks ahead for Dromtariffe hurling teams with three finals down for decision beginning on a clash against Whites Cross in the County Junior B Hurling League Final at Donoughmore on Saturday.
Paired are the two most consistent teams in the grade and it affords the opportunity to land silverware. When the sides met in the preliminary section to this league last May, Dromtariffe enjoyed a 10 point triumph.
Contrasting fortunes in the all in county championship, Whites Cross two outing incurred defeats to Ballinacurra and eventual champions and neighbours Whitechurch by three points.
That compared to a better run by Dromtariffe on overcoming Bantry Blues, St. Mary’s and Rathpeacon only to be defeated by Whitechurch in a semi final.
Interestingly, Whitechurch hopes of adding the second county championship were knocked off course when defeated by Whites Cross in the City Junior B decider. Hopes of further progress for Whites Cross came unstuck in the county on a two point quarter final defeat by Cloughdubh.
Perhaps some form to go on from that result, Dromtariffe having retained their Duhallow title on a narrow win over Kilbrin advanced in the county series with wins over St. Marys and Cloughdubh by a four point margin.
On the basis of enjoying a better return including a win over Whites Cross already this season, Dromtariffe appear to be good enough to succeed.
