LIMERICK BAND WINDING UP FOR ALBUM LAUNCH
LIMERICK band Windings will hold the Cork launch of their new album ‘Be Honest and Fear Not’ at a gig in Coughlan’s Live, Douglas Street on Saturday night.
The album, which has already been hailed by critics as one of the Irish albums of the year, is a typically eclectic mix of tracks confirming the bands status as one of the most exciting and unpredictable Irish acts out there at the moment.
Their live performances have earned them a loyal and growing fan-base and have seen them become festivals favourites in addition to supporting the likes of Bob Mould, Iron and Wine, Kurt Vile and Modest Mouse.

FINAL CHANCE T0 CATCH RICHMOND FONTAINE
FOLLOWING the release of their 10th studio album US alt/country band Richmond Fontaine will bring their farewell Irish tour to Cork’s Cyprus Avenue on Friday night.
The release of ‘You Can’t Go Back if There’s Nothing to Go Back To’, heralded the end of a more than 20-year recording career for the popular Oregon four-piece.
While their studio output has been prolific, the band is perhaps best known for its live performances, playing to packed venues across the globe.
The Cyprus Avenue gig will give die-hard Cork fans one final chance to catch the band live on stage.

HYDRA QUARTET TO PLAY AT TRISKEL ARTS CENTRE
THE Triskel Christchurch Arts Centre’s 2016 Quartet series will continue on Saturday with a lunchtime concert at the venue featuring the acclaimed Beara Quartet.
The concert, presented in conjunction with the National String Quartet Foundation and Cork City Council, follows on from last months recital by the Hydra Quartet.
The programme will feature works by Beethoven (String Trio in C minor Op9 no3), Guerra-Peixe (Mourao) and Mendelssohn (String Quartet in E flat major Op.12) and admission will be a modest €5.
The final lunchtime concert in the series on November 5, will feature the Vanbrugh Quartet and quartets from the Cork School of music followed by an eagerly anticipated evening performance of the Bartók Project by the RTÉ Contempo Quartet.
DECLAN SINNOT TO SHOW FRUITS OF HIS LABOUR
VETERAN Irish singer/songwriter Declan Sinnott will play a gig amid the intimate surroundings of the First Fruits Arts Centre in Watergrasshill on Saturday night.
A founding member of Horslips and Moving Hearts and a long time collaborator with Christy Moore, Sinnott has also produced records for both Mary and Frances Black.
In recent years Sinnott has branched off on his own, recording and releasing two critically acclaimed solo albums and playing venues across the country.

VARIETY CONCERT AT FERMOY YOUTH CENTRE
The Fermoy Catholic Men and Women’s Society (CMWS)will host a variety fundraising concert in the local Community Youth Centre on Saturday night at 8.30pm.
The concert, part of celebrations marking the 110th anniversary of the Fermoy branch, will feature an impressive line-up of local talent under MC Sean Donnellan from C103.
This will included performances by tenor and soprano Frank Ryan and Sarah O’Mahoney, The Fermoy Concert Band, the Loreto and Coláiste an Chraoibhín school choirs, the Cheers Trad and Folk Group and the Fermoy Musical Society.

‘HIS GRACE’ TO PLAY THE VILLAGE ARTS CENTRE
LEGENDARY comedian, actor and all round raconteur Brendan Grace will bring his hilarious stand-up show to the stage Village Arts Centre in Kilworth tonight (Thursday).
Perhaps the greatest Irish comedian of his, or indeed any other generation, Grace has stood at the very pinnacle of his profession for more than four decades.
His sharp sense of the absurd, keen eye and impeccable timing all combine to make an evening in his company a hilarious and truly unforgettable occasion.
His stage show is a combination of the old and new, with the return of some old favourites including Bottler and a host of new characters.

TRIO OF IRISH STARS TO SHARE B/COLLIG STAGE
THREE of Ireland’s finest musicians, Robbie Overson, Eoin Coughlan and Eoghan ‘Reggie’ Regan, will come together for a one-off gig at the White Horse in Ballincollig on Friday night.
Each of the three artists will be familiar to music fans for their solo work and their various collaborations with other Irish artists and bands.
Friday night’s gig promises to be an unforgettable experience featuring an edgy and exciting mix of trad, rock, blues and jazz that only a special collaboration such as this can produce.

RAY LYNAM TO THRILL FANS AT THE GLENEAGLE
FOLLOWING a gap of more than three decades Ray Lynam and the Original Hillbillies reunited for an all too brief tour in October last year.
Following positive feedback from fans and critics, they have decided to once again take to the road for an Irish tour, which will include a concert next Sunday night at the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney.
Fans of country music can expect a memorable night featuring a selection of classic tracks such as ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘ The Gambler’ and ‘Beautiful Woman’ as well as new material.

MURDER AND MAYHEM ON THE MACROOM STAGE
THE Briery Gap Cultural Centre in Macroom is set to break new ground on Friday when it hosts the première of Ireland’s first ever musical murder mystery.
Hollywood star Patrick Bergin will play the lead role in Michael Sheridan’s ‘Murder at Shandy Hall – The Musical’ which will run for six performances at the Riverside Park Hotel.
Billed as “one of the most exciting theatrical events ever staged in Macroom”, the musical will take audiences back in time to the year 1887, retelling the story of a scandal that rocked the quiet tranquillity of a Cork village and made headlines across the world.

BOWIE’S GOLDEN YEARS REVISITED AT OPERA HSE
THE music of the late, great Thin White Duke will resonate around the auditorium of the Cork Opera House on Friday night with the return to the venue of ‘Rebel Rebel – The David Bowie Experience’.
The band, led by Peter Quinn whose voice bears an uncanny resemblance to Bowie’s, are lifelong fans and have a deep respect for the man and his music.
The set for their costumed show is built around Bowie’s enduring catalogue of songs, with the band faithfully recreating the sound and look of his live shows covering hits from more than five decades.
