Mallow’s Killian Carroll also enjoyed a good run in Los Caballeros reaching the semi-final of Men’s Open, he had some good wins on his way to reaching a semi-final where he faced up to Canadian player Armando Ortiz Jr after a thrilling contest the Canadian came out on top 11 aces to 9 in tie break, Westmeath player Robbie McCarthy went on to take the title defeating Ortiz Jr in the final, while Killian Carroll went on to win third place play-off a result he will probably be happy enough with as he gears up for a busy season on the US Tour.

The Munster 40x20 Inter club championsh­ip is up and running the first games were decided last Monday evening with four preliminar­y rounds in Junior B club with mixed results for the Cork clubs involved. Limerick side Bohermore defeated Mallow 87 aces to 37, Broadford B defeated Conna 126 aces to 51, Ballydesmo­nd defeated Hospital 104 aces to 86, with Glenville defeating Broadford.A 106 aces to 94.

Those results sets the scene for four quarter finals, three of those down for decision this Friday evening all with 7.30 start, Friary Abbeyside, Dungarvan v Bohermore in Cashel, Boherbue v Broadford. B in Galbally, while in Conna in an all Cork clash Kilworth face Glenville.

Back to Senior club tonight (Thursday) in Ballydesmo­nd Mallow face Glenbeigh, Kerry, in a semi-final at 7.30, the winner of that game play Liscarroll in a Munster Final in Ballydesmo­nd on Wednesday at 7.30.

In Junior Club both semi-finals and final are down for decision in Fermoy on Sunday commencing at 11am, the semi-final pairings are Kilworth v Cashel, Clonmel v Broadford,the final between both winners is scheduled for 2.30pm.

Last weekend 60x30 Munster Boys and Girls Colleges championsh­ip was decided at Limerick venues and proved very for Cork colleges involved. The following players won provincial honours and now go forward to All-Ireland semi-finals and hopefully finals which are scheduled for Leinster venues on Saturday November 5. In Junior Doubles Liscarroll pair Gearoid Healy and Luke Barrett representi­ng Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk. In Intermedia­te Doubles Mallow pairing Conor Walsh and Cian O’Driscoll representi­ng Patrician Academy, Mallow. In Senior singles Mallow player Gearoid O’Connell representi­ng Davis College and in Senior Doubles Mallow pairing David Walsh and Tadgh O’Neill again representi­ng Patrician Academy.

Provincial Colleges at First Year level only go to provincial level and again Cork Colleges were successful in Girls with Cliona Dunning, Conna, playing with Muireann O’Brien, Kilworth, winning the First Year Doubles title, while in Boys Boherbue player Darragh Ducey representi­ng Boherbue Comprehens­ive took the First Year Singles title.
