Ford Focus is most searched for used car on Carzone over the last eight years

-

A RECENT Motoring Report published by Carzone.ie yielded some very interesting county-specific information on used car buyer behaviour in County Cork. One of the most popular questions namely: “What is the most searched-for used car in Cork” was answered. The answer is: a Ford Focus. It finished first in five of the last 8 years and second in the other three according to Carzone. Unsurprisingly, Ford was also the most popular Make of car that was searched for. Black continued to be the most popular car searched, whereas Diesel accounted for 82% of cars searched – much higher than in other counties – which may, in some part, be explained by the longer commutes required in a county as large as Cork.

Commenting on the findings in the report, James Foley, Sales Manager at Cavanaghs of Charleville – itself a Ford Dealer – felt that the report was good news for a large number of Ford owners out there. “This shows that the Ford Focus is very much a sought after vehicle by used car buyers in Cork”, he commented. “Ford owners could actually use this to their advantage by unlocking the inherent value in their own car by upgrading this year and thereby maximising their trade-in allowance”. Foley went on to add: “We are seeing high demand for good quality used cars between the years 2008-2014. Therefore, we are inclined to value them quite strongly, knowing that they will sell well in the future”.

Recent data from the SIMI shows the new car market is tracking at 35% higher than this time last year suggesting that the underlying prospects in the industry continue to remain positive for the foreseeable future.
