Lifelong learning at Mallow College

THE awards conferred at the recent Mallow College Evening Education Graduation ceremony echo their mission of lifelong learning and continued dedication to training and up skilling of the local and wider community.

Just a little insight into Part-Time Education in Mallow College, during the past 12 months over 1,500 students successful completed part-time courses. The programmes on offer were adapted to suit the needs and interests of learners and industry. These programmes enable learners to develop new skills in a particular area which can aid future employment­s. Mallow College values the importance of education with a mission to “Opening Minds, Creating Futures”. Going forward the Evening Education Department will continue to offer new courses which will aid the local population and business world.

The awards were conferred in the areas of Childcare, Healthcare, Accounting and Business. Special guests on the night were SkillETB represente­d by Brenda O Mara, The Institute of Incorporat­ed Public Accountant­s represente­d by their CEO Tom Rogers and Councillor Bernard Moynihan. The Director of the Evening Education Department John Healy addressed those in attendance, congratula­ting all graduates and paid gratitude to Mallow Colleges education and industry partners. Mr Healy wished to instil a clear vison for Mallow College “The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to mature”, “Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will”

Mallow College is now planning ahead for Spring 2017, courses will begin week commencing January 30th. Applicatio­ns can be made online form December 1st 2016 at evening.mallowcoll­ege.ie A number of new QQI certified courses at both level 5 & 6 will be on offer for the term ahead including: Barbering, Mental Health Awareness, Supervisor­y Management, Social Studies, Healthcare, Childcare, SNA, Business, Tourism and Beauty Therapy.
