League and cup winners go head to head at the oice

Maureen’s V. Bridge House

THIS was the meeting of last year’s League Champions Maureen’s against the Cup Winners the Bridge House.

Both teams were up for this one and Ken Lomasney and Eddie O’Rourke were first up to do battle. O’Rourke scored a 137 but it was not enough to see Lomansey finish on double tops.

In the second leg O’Rourke had three darts for double 17 but missed with his opponent winning the second leg. Lomansey scored well in the final leg to win the game 3-0.

Steve Mahony fired well in the second game against Pat Leahy and was victorious on a 3-0 scoreline. Brendan Broderick and Nicky Sherman had a good encounter with Sherman performing the better of the two but Broderick fought well in the end with a miracalous comeback to win 3-2.

Next up was Klaus Richter against Alan Foley with Foley meaning business starting with a couple of tons and took the first leg. The second and third legs went to Richter and had no problem in the fourth leg to win 3-1.

John Leonard played Michael O’Rourke in the fifth game and on this occasion Leonard was too strong for O’Rourke beating him 3-0.

The last singles game saw Peter O’Donovan against Jonah Jones with both players on form and it was always going to be a close one. It was two legs each and both players were struggling to hit the doubles but this time it was O’Donovan who walked away with the win 3-2.

Eric Griffin and Broderick won the first doubles against Sherman and Jonah Jones with Griffin throwing some great darts.

The last game on the night was the pairing of Danny Butler and Leahy against Steve O’Mahony and Dave O’Brien with the visiting pair winning 3-0.

Mona’s V. Horgan’s

ON Monday night Horgan’s were in town to face Jason’s Buckley’s Mona’s team.

Matthew Flaherty was first up to play Chris Holmes with the Buttevant thrower winning 3-0. Tommy Kavanagh and Adrian Holmes were up next and while both players were firing well the Dubliner lost out to Holmes in a 3-1 battle.

Liam Farrell and Mick Dunlea were next to do battle with both players duelling in an exciting tit for tat encounter with Mona’s Farrell edging out in a 3-2.

Captain Jason Buckley had the task of beating Edward Phelan in the next oice struggle for supremacy but the visiting player had a fine 3-1.

Arron Ryan and Johnny Holland faced each other for the fifth game and Holland on this occasion was no match for Ryan who won 3-0.

In the last singles game Patrick Holmes and John Sheehan had a close affair with Holmes finishing the better in a 3-1.

In the first doubles Holland and Farrell were against Adrian Holmes and Chris Holmes and the Buttevant pairing were too strong for the Mallow boys beating them 3-0.

Man of the match Ryan and Phelan took on Kavanagh and Sheehan in the last game of the night.

Horgan’s won the first leg and the second and in the third Kavanagh was unlucky not to finish a 119 on the bull but it was not to be as Ryan finished on double 4 with the final result being a win for the Buttevant lads.
