Rockchapel and Meelin GAA clubs off to the dogs
MEELIN and Rockchapel GAA Clubs host a “Night at the Dogs” in the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in Tralee on Saturday, November 26.
Both clubs are presently involved in ongoing development projects which will further enhance the facilities at their respective GAA Grounds. Meelin are completing an Indoor Gymnasium along with placing a roof on the newly erected Hurling Wall Alley while Rockchapel GAA are in the process of commencing a lighted Running/ Walking Track on the perimeter of their pitch.
As a voluntary organisation, both clubs depend on the generosity of its supporters, friends and gaelic games enthusiasts to help make ends meet. With a cross over of players on both clubs, Meelin and Rockchapel are striving to provide best facilities for players and promoting the enjoyment and appreciation of the games in a safe yet competitive environment.
Secretaries Mary Collins and Bridie Murphy spoke of the projects providing extra facilities to those wishing to improve their lifestyle/ fitness levels and will be available to the public all year round.
“As part of a fundraising campaign both clubs have come together for a Night at the Dogs and we earnestly request the financial help of outlets to provide an advertisement on the Race programme on the night or purchase a ticket for the Tralee staging,” they said.
IA “Painting Competition” is being held in Meelin, Rockchapel and Knockaclarig Schools and all entries will be displayed at the Greyhound Stadium on the Fundraising night. Prizes will be awarded to each individual school.
