Glanmire 1-13 Mallow 2-6

GLANMIRE had four points to spare over Mallow in the County Premier U-16 (1) FL semi-final at Sallybrook on Wednesday night.

Over the hour the winners were the better balanced side and their freetaking taking by Conor Crowley had a major bearing on the outcome. Jack Dillon opened the scoring with a Mallow point.

Joe Lonergan replied in the third minute. Good play by Enock Khanyile led to a Peter Attridge goal before Chris Kelleher had a goal for the home side 1-1 each after just eight minutes.

Glanmire hit the front with some good points. They were ahead 1-6 to 1-2 after 26 minutes. Mallow had a late goal by Enock Khanyile that closed the gap at the break to a point 1-6 to 2-2.

The Avondhu side had a quick point on the changeover by Eoin Kenny. Jack Dillon worked well for Enock Khanyile who put Mallow ahead. Glanmire dominated the final 20 minutes.

They did well in the half-back line and midfield sectors. By the 50th minute they were level 2-5 to 1-8. Glanmire added three rapid points by Conor Crowley (2) and Daniel Allen while Mallow who battled to the end had a point by Eoin Kenny over off the keeper. Glanmire held out for a deserved four point win.

They now meet either Nemo Rangers or Douglas in the county final.
