There was a taste of more from the Mallow Christmas fair

- BILL BROWNE

THE white deer waiting patiently for their boss in the red suit to arrive could not have been in bigger contrast to the excited faces of the young and old who flocked to the grounds of Mallow Castle last Saturday.

The by now traditional Mallow Christmas Family Food and Craft Fair attracted a huge ground to the venue, with everyone keen to sample some culinary delights, enjoy the free entertainment on offer and revel in the delightfully festive atmosphere.

In keeping with previous years the fair was a fine example of how a community can come together to showcase all it has to offer, with local businesses, children from schools around the area, voluntary and sporting groups and Cork County Council combining to make sure the event was a roaring success.

The impressive array of craft stalls meant there was no shortage of ideas for Christmas gifts and with the Cork Taste showcase tempting the taste buds with tasty treats, plenty of kiddies entertainment and live music in the marquee there was plenty to see and do throughout the afternoon.

Of course no Christmas Fair would be completed without a visit from Santa and as expected he cause quite a stir as he made his away around the Castle grounds with his elves handing out sweets to wideeyed children.

As all those who visited the fair will no doubt testify this was the perfect way to kick-off the festive season in style.
