FUN RUN

The local Festival Committee’s first annual 5k fun run/walk takes place on Tuesday, December 27 commencing at the Church at 2pm. Registration begins at 1pm in the Hall which will also be the finishing line and where refreshments will be served and souvenir medals presented to all participants. This is a fundraising event with the funds generated going to provide additional street lights for Christmas. This year five new lights were erected in the vicinity of the Square and the plan is to light up the Main Street to the Church. The fee is €20 per family or €10 for adults and €5 for children. You are also encouraged to wear your Santa hat, scarf or any Christmas decoration.

On Thursday night last the turning on of the lights ceremony was a wonderful success with a huge attendance. Committee chairman Donal Aherne presided with former NS principal Mr Louis McCarthy operating the magic switch. The Church choir were at their best while the young children who were accompanied by the teachers were very impressive at both music and song. Thanks to all involved in preparing these boys and girls, they produce a sound that would lift your spirit. Also in attendance was Garda Charlie McCarthy and we thank him for being present and wish him well in his new station.

It was off to the hall afterwards for a taste of Margaret Murphy’s mysterious mulled wine recipe with teas etc served up by the ‘Two Theresas’ and friends to round off another special occasion.
