IRISH CATHOLIC NEWSPAPER – The Irish Catholic newspaper is on sale in the porch of the church.

TAX REBATE – 2015 tax year has closed. This means that the parish can avail of a tax rebate on all contributi­ons of €250 and more. The certificat­es necessary to make the reclaim for 2015 are now available and will be circulated in the coming days. You are kindly asked to sign and return them to the parish priest as soon as possible.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION­S – No Church Gate Collection taken up at St Mary’s Church, Ballyhea is endorsed by the parish. All such collection­s are made on foot of a permit, issued by the Chief Superinten­dent of the Garda Síochána, at Fermoy. Permits require those taking up Church Gate Collection­s to do so on the public highway, and in a manner which does not obstruct or importune others using the highway. Any group or organisati­on intending to collect outside the church gates are asked to present copies of their permits in the sacristy, together with copies of letters of authorisat­ion from those collecting on their behalf. This should be done before the collection commences.

TRIBUTE TO FR. MICHAEL – A tribute night for Fr Michael Campbell is being organised in Kilbrin Social Club on Friday, December 16, details of which are published on the notice board of our Church.

The County Developmen­t Plan has been published. Submission­s from the public are now being sought. These can be made up to December 23. Copies of the plan are available for inspection at public libraries so you are encouraged to examine the draft developmen­t plan, bearing in mind that once adopted it will affect you and your property in a variety of ways, most notably in planning applicatio­ns.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

GAA CLUB NOTES

CLUB AGM – The club’s annual general meeting was held on Friday, November 25, at the club Rooms. Breda Crowley opened the meeting with a decade of the Rosary for deceased members. Runaí Michael O’Mahony read the minutes of last Year’s AGM. Chairman Noel O’Riordan then addressed the meeting and was followed by Michael O’Mahony’s detailed Secretary Report. Jim Codd went through the Treasurer’s Report giving an account of the club’s finances.

The draw for the club’s County Board GAA Members’ Draw was then held and the winners of €100 each were: Hannah Mulcahy, Liam Murphy, Luke Hanley, Joseph Crowley, Mossie O’Riordan, Tom Crowley. The Juvenile Club Chairman Tom Crowley presided over the election of officers and paid tribute to retiring officers Michael O’Mahony and Jim Codd as they had their terms served in their posts.

The Officers for 2017 elected were: President: John P Quinn, Vice Presidents: Jerome O’Keeffe, Tom Morrissey, Dan Casey, Joe Walsh, Christy O’Connor, Tadgh Mortell (Snr) Tom Crowley, Billy Fleming, Mick Ryan, Jack Kelly, Billy Fitzgibbon, Pakie Morrissey, Michael O’Sullivan, Breda Crowley, Mick Copps, Tommy Moloney, Pat O’Brien, James Browne. NEW MANAGER – Natal O’Grady has been appointed manager of the Ballyhea Senior Hurling Team. Holder of seven Senior County Championsh­ip medals with his native Patrickswe­ll, Natal also managed Limerick Intermedia­te Hurlers and was under-21 Selector with the county. In recent years he coached Patrickswe­ll, Abbeydorne­y and Knockainey. The rest of the back room team will be announced at a later date. Best of luck to Natal for the season ahead.

CLOTHES COLLECTION

The camogie club is once again collecting Used Clothes, Old Curtains, Bedlinen, Footwear, Bags and Books. Contact any member of the committee.

MEN ON THE MOVE

Men on the Move takes place in the hall every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. All new members are welcome for an hour of exercise and fun.

JUVENILE GAA NEWS

The annual Juvenile Club Christmas Draw tickets are now available. Tickets are €5 or book of three for €10. The draw will take place on Saturday, December 17, at the Corbett Court.

PRESENTATI­ON NIGHT – The Juvenile Club Presentati­on Night is scheduled for Thursday, December 22, at 7 p.m. in the club Rooms. The minor and under-12 Hurlers will receive their winning medals. The Kieran Murphy Memorial Juvenile Club Person of the Year will also be announced on the night.

PUC FADA – The annual Long Puck will take place on St Stephen’s Day. Under-14 registrati­on at 10.30 a.m. The adult competitio­n for the Dicko Mortell Memorial Shield commences at midday. The proceeds of this year’s event will go to the Fight for Fionn Fund.

Ballyhea Community Alert has successful­ly set up a Text Alert Network to immediatel­y alert our community when an incident occurs. Prompt informatio­n to and from Gardaí deters criminal activity. 45 DRIVE

The 45 Drive will continue at the Corbett Court every Wednesday night at 9.15 p.m. so all welcome.
