‘The Men In Black’ take the stage in Kilcorney homage to Cash
FANS of Johnny Cash walked the line in a celebration night remembering the great man of song at a special charity hosting in Moll Carthy’s Bar, Kilcorney.
A roster of fans from all over Duhallow and beyond convened and brought to life some of the great songs of Cash. Indeed, patrons acceded to organisers’ wishes to dress up in black, thus adding to a brilliant atmosphere.
On the same day that Donald Trump was inaugurated in Washington, Kilcorney voted for Cash, recalling a figure that became an institution right around the globe. As one of the most influential musicians of all time, he has inspired a whole generation of people with his incredible songs.
That allowed fans to deliver on their vocal chords in a staging promoted by Kilcorney Community Association with all proceeds donated to Cancer Connect.
Classics ranged from “Ring of Fire”, “I Walked the Line” to “Jackson” and “Forty Shades of Green” delighted fans of the “Man in Black”.
For good measure a table quiz with a key number of Johnny Cash posers added to the occasion.
That preceeded a songs and chorus, as John Mulcahy from Lombardstown collected the Best Johnny Cash looklalike, Jonathan Howard earned the Best Johnny Cash performance. Not to be outdone, the ladies also delivered terrific performances, with Joan O’Connell from Rathcoole securing the June Carter accolade with Tracy Dunlea collecting Best Song.
