Brushes out in abundance as Mona’s whitewashe­d by Horgan’s

IN the Blackwater Valley Darts League, Raymond Harrington was in brilliant form in the opening game last Friday night for Kit Roche’s while Pa Lucey from Molly’s Bar in Bweeng had no answer to the in-form Lucey who sailed home with a 3-0 win.

Daniel Linehan and Willy O’Shea played the second game and even though Linehan played well O’Shea always had the upper hand winning 3-1.

Kevin Lenahan was up next for Kits against Valdi Ghada. Ghada won a leg but Linehan went on to win 3-1.

Chris OToole and Steve Connelly played the fourth game and Connelly, who is one of the leagues finest players, won 3-0.

Michael Madigan and Timmy O’Sullivan were next to do battle with O’Sullivan winning 3-1.

Ger McCarthy and Barry Healy challenged each other in the last game of singles with Healy taking out McCarthy 3-0.

Glenn Curtin and Anthony Linehan had an almost impossible task of beating Stephan Connelly and Tim O’Sullivan in the opening game of doubles and it was the Bweeng pairing who came out on top 3-0.

Raymond Harrington and Kevin Lenihan had a point to prove against Barry Healy and Will O’Shea in the last game of the night and even though the Bweeng boys won a leg it was not going to be there night as the Buttevant duo went on to win 3-1.

The match finished 5-3 to Molly’s but it was a great night of darts.

John O’Sullivan of Kepplers threw some cracking darts in this opening game against Steve O’Mahony from the Bridge House with O’Mahoney taking the honours 3-1.

Damien Carey and Eddie O’Rourke were up next and it was always going to be a hard task for Carey as he was up against one of the league’s best players. O’Rourke was in great form hitting ton after ton and went on to win 3-0.

Jay Claw played Alan Foley in the third game and even though Claw won a leg Foley’s scoring was to good and he went on to win 3-1.The fourth singles game was between Jason Carey and Michael O’Rourke with the latter throwing some magnificen­t darts to win his game 3-1.

The veteran Pat Haugh was up next against Darren Jones but the Mallow player came a cropper losing 3-0.

One of the closest games on the night was the last game of singles between Jo Jo Noonan and the Bridge Champ Nicky Sherman with this oice battle even Stevens at 2-2 before Noonan fired well and won 3-2 .

The first game of doubles went to Darren Jones and Richard Willis winning 3-1 and Dave O’Brien and Michael O’Rourke were beaten 3-2 by Pat Haugh and the player of the night Jo Jo Noonan.

The final result was 2-6 to the Southsider­s.

The brushes were out in abundance as Mona’s were whitewashe­d by Horgan’s in downtown Buttevant on Monday night. Eddie Phelan played first against Matthew Flaherty and it was not long before Phelan was getting tons and hit two 140s to finish the game with a 3-0 score.

Adrian Holmes was also on fire as he disposed of Liam Farrell 3-0. Aaron Ryan made it 3-0 with his 3-0 win over Dubliner Tommy Kavanagh.

Chris Holmes was up next against the inform John Holland. The first four legs were shared with both players hitting tons and in the deciding game Holmes came out on top with a 3-2 win.

In the fifth game Noel Holmes played John Sheehan with the Buttevant thrower winning 3-0. In the last singles game Patrick Holmes played Jason Buckley who is a devoted Mona’s dart master but young Holmes showed no mercy as he won 3-0.

In the first game of doubles Chris Holmes and Mick Dunlea played John Holland and Matthew Flaherty and the agony continued for the Mallow pub in a 3-1 defeat.

The last game had Aaron Ryan and Trevor Bowles against Tommy Kavanagh and Jason Buckley with the home duo doing the business 3-0. The final score was an 8-0 win for Horgan’s .
