ANNIVERSARY
Congratulations to Seán and Joan Lenihan, Derrinatubrid, who recently celebrated 55 years of marriage bliss. Joan, née Flynn, Knocknabowl and Seán were married in St Patrick’s Church, Ballydesmond on January 13, 1961. The chief celebrant was Rev Fr Gene O’Callaghan, a cousin of the groom, assisted by Ballydesmond PP, Fr Browne.
The reception took place at the Internatinal Hotel, Killarney and the happy couple travelled around Ireland on their honeymoon.

The River Island Hotel in Castleisland will be alive with glamour and style on this Saturday night, January 28, when the Araglen Desmonds Bui Ladies’ Football Club hold their annual social where a number of teams will be honoured for their victories during 2016.
These include North Cork League winners at under-12, 16, minor and junior level plus the County Championship by the all conquering junior squad.
Its an occasion the girls, their families and supporters along with the club officers are eagerly looking forward to. Meal time is 8 p.m. followed by the presentations and dancing late into the night.

The proposed Araglen Desmonds Bui Ladies’ Football Club duck race due to take place on Sunday last had to be postponed due to the shortage of water in the area where the race was due to take place.
However, it will definitely go ahead on this Sunday, meeting at the Community Centre at 12.30 p.m. and if required the race will be moved further down the river.
