Lots of North Cork interest in Allsop online auction

- BILL BROWNE

A CLUTCH of lots from across the North Cork area will come under the hammer today (Thursday) at the first online Allsops auction of commercial and residential properties this year.

The lots are among more than 190 properties and sites from around the country that will be up for grabs with a combined reserve of more than €27 million.

Allsop director Richard O’Neil said the launch of the February catalogue marks the start of what the company expects to be a very busy year.

“The residential offering provides substantial investment opportunities but also a wide range of vacant properties across the country which will be of interest to potential owner-occupiers,” said Mr O’Neill.

“On the commercial side, we have some particularly strong income streams on offer,” he added.

There will also be a number of undeveloped parcels of land up for auction, some of which are located within the North Cork area.

Lot 23 for example, is comprised of three “irregular shaped” sites at Demense close to the town of Newmarket. The three pieces of land on Island Road, which collectively extend to 4.5 hectares (11.21 acres), have a reserve range of between €80,000 to €90,000.

Lot number 46 on the online catalogue is another site on the Island Road, this time at Demense. The land, which extends to approximately 1.77 hectares (4.3 acres), has a reserve range of between €60,000 to €70,000.

Staying in Newmarket, the former Corner Cafe on Scarteen Street in the town is also set to go under the hammer with a reserve range of between €55,000 - €65,000.

Extending to approximately 139 sq metres, the property, which is situated in a prominent position at the corner of Main St and High St, is currently let under an informal tenancy with current reserved rent of €1,800 per annum.

There are also two lots situated in nearby Kanturk on the online auction, the first being a parcel of land located at Ballintober, roughly 2.5km east of the town.

The land, which extends to approximately 1.63 hectares (4.02 acres), fronts onto the Springvale Heights Road and has a reserve range price of between €12,000 and €17,000.

The second Kanturk lot is a vacant, single-story, pitches roof detached two-bedroomed house on a 5.7 hectare (14 acres) site at Kippagh. Situated on the R576 approximately 7km south of Kanturk the house, which has an F BER rating, has a reserve range of between €145,000 and €155,000.

The final lot of North Cork interest is a vacant, six-bedroomed detached house at Rockmills, Kildorrery.

The impressive looking house boasts gardens to the front and rear, off-street parking, a b3 BER rating and extends to approximately 260 square metres. It comes with a reserve range of between €115,000 to €125,000. For more about today’s auction and the bidding process visit www.allsopireland.ie.
