‘The Griff’ takes no prisoners at Maureen’s

ON Monday, February 13 Maureen’s dart team travelled to Buttevant for a top of the table clash against Horgan’s

Chris Holmes gave Sean Dilworth no chance in the opening game winning 3-0.

Arron Ryan played Pat Daly in the second game and Ryan was bursting to start and before long it was all square at two all.

The last leg Ryan attacked the board and was first to hit the double and won 3-2.

Adrian Holmes played the cool Danny Butler in the third game and the first four legs were shared. The veteran Butler waited for his chance to strike and as cool as you like finished to take the game 3-2.

Edward Phelan will never get an easier game again and won 3-0 in the fourth game.

Horgan’s young gun Patrick Holmes was up next against the experience­d John Leonard in the fifth game. Both players threw well but it was Leonard who came out on top with a 3-1 score.

Mick Dunlea played Peter O’Donovan in the last game of singles . The close friends off the oice battled well but it was O’Donovan who won 3-1.

The score now was 3-3 and all eyes were on the doubles.

Ryan and Adrian Holmes played O’Donovan and Dilworth in the opening game and O’Donovan hit double 16 to win the first game. After that the Horgan boys took over and beat the Maureen’s duo 3-1.

Chris and Noel Holmes played Leonard and Butler in the last game of the night .The Maureen’s pairing scored well and went on to win 3-0 with the result on the night being 4-4.

Meanwhile, on Friday night Molly’s travelled to Maureen’s for their oice clash on Friday night. Peter Heslin kicked off the first game against Pat Leahy and his first nine darts were 100, 85, 140, and he kept this scoring up to the end and won 3-1.

Eric Griffin played Pa Lucey in the next game and everyone was surprised with the improvemen­t in the radio DJ’s game. Lucey won a leg but Griffin took no prisoners and won 3-1.

Tim Sullivan smiled his way to another 3-0 win for Molly’s against Sean Dilworth.

Danny Butler was up against one of one of Molly’s best players Steve Connolly. Butler missed double sixteen for a 101 checkout but it was Connolly who went on to win 3-0.

Barry Healy played the crafty Klaus Richter in the fifth leg and it was the German who set the pace with a 180 in the first leg. This was a close game but there had to be a winner and that was Richter in a 3-0 victory.

Peter O’Donovan played a great up and coming player in the form of Will O’Shea in the last singles game. Both players were on form and scoring well but in the end O’Donovan won 3-0.

In the doubles Butler and Leahy played Heslin and O’Sullivan in the first game. There were great scores in this one with eight one ton scores with Molly’s pairing winning 3-1.

In the last game O’Donovan and Richter were beaten by Connolly and the magic of Valdi with the final outcome being 5-3 to the visitors.

On Monday, Mona’s hosted the Bridge House. The Mona’s team were unlucky in some games in this meeting but on the night the visitors won 7-1.

In the coming cup matches, Maureen’s are at home to Horgan’s, (March 6) Molly’s travel to the Bridge House (March 3) while Moly’s are home to the Bridge House (March 10).

In the Plate, Kepplers host Mona’s on March 3 while Mona’s entertain Kepplers on March 13 with Kit Roches getting a bye.
