Muskerry U-21 championships coming to a critical point

-

under their belt and they faced the Gaeltacht side with a good degree of confidence. Only two points separated the sides in last Saturday’s encounter but Cill Na Martra were slightly the better side with their ability to score goals tilting the balance in their favour.

Cill Na Martra will again be in action on Saturday next when they will have home advantage. They will face Iniscarra who will be determined to make amends for their disappointing performance when they lost to Kilmurry in their first outing.

Cork Under-21 football captain Sean O’Donoghue was unavailable for that opening game and he was obviously sorely missed. If he is fit for action for Saturday’s encounter Inniscarra’s prospects of victory will be greatly enhanced and they are sure to pull out all the stops as defeat will knock them out of the championship race.

Cill Na Martra are formidable opponents, however, as the most of the players in their line out have been performing impressively at Under-21 football in Muskerry during the past four years. They could have the edge at home but irrespective of who wins, a very good hours football is anticipated.

The Under-21 ‘B’ football games played to date are also producing entertaining fare and two of the favoured sides will face each other on Saturday afternoon next. The teams concerned are Ballinora and Canovee and the former will have home advantage. The contest however is likely to go right down to the wire.

In the Under-21 ‘C’ Championship Iveleary are the form team and they will be one of the finalists, with this weeks end games likely to determine the final pairings.
