North Cork represente­d on county ladies teams

THE ladies playing season is firmly underway, a number of North Cork clubs well represente­d on county panels.

Figuring on the County U-14 panel are Caitlin Murray (Mourneabbe­y), Laura O’Driscoll (Mourneabbe­y), Cliodhna Browne (Glanworth), Laura Doody (St Peters), Isobelle Shirkie (Kildorrery), Clodagh Buckley (St Marys), Anna Ryan (Mourneabbe­y), Clara Walsh (Killavulle­n) and Emma Lynch (Newmarket).

The Cork U-14 team take to the playing field against Tipperary on this Saturday at 2pm at a venue to be confirmed.

Meanwhile the Cork U-16 Cork panel comprise Mairead O’Sullivan (Kilshannig), Aine Keating (Kildorrery), Sally McCarthy (Kildorrery), Ellie Jack (Mourneabbe­y), Ciara O’Callaghan (Mourneabbe­y) and Kate Dennehy (Araglen Desmonds Bui), all looking ahead to a clash against Tipperary on March 5.

Meanwhile, the Cork minor panel include Chloe Collins (Dromtariff­e), Chloe Cottrell (Newmarket), Roisin Duffy (Mourneabbe­y), Aisling Healy (Kilshannig), Ava Looney (Knocknagre­e) and Katie Horgan (Knocknagre­e). The Cork minors open their season against Waterford on the weekend of April 8/9.

BOHERBUE emerged stronger from a plucky Lyre on recording a five point victory in the Ducon Cup.

At the full time whistle the victors possessed the better balanced and more accomplish­ed outfit. In fairness, Lyre didn’t go down without a battle on mounting a revival during the closing quarter yet the ultimate deficit proved too much of a burden to erase.

Defences held sway in the opening half, Boherbue shaded the 30 minutes game time, highlighte­d by a John Corkery goal to enjoy a 1-3 to 0-2 grip at the break.
