Boherbue face Killaloe in Colleges Final
GAMES don’t come any bigger for Boherbue Comprehensive School than contesting a provincial decider when they face up to St. Anne, Killaloe in the Munster Colleges Senior CFC Final at Ballyagran on Saturday.
A titanic battle for supremacy promises to unfold, two good football teams on duty, a game above the ordinary is guaranteed between eager sides. The Duhallow side can take plenty of encouragement enroute to this final, easily overcoming Sexton Street, Limerick and Kilrush. And Boherbue climbed a notch to better Scoil Mhuire, Newcastlewest before accounting for St. Colmans of Midleton in the semi final.
This Boherbue side come with strong credentials from a side including brothers CJ and Jerry O’Sullivan, Seán Meehan, Maurice Casey and Daire Moynihan.
Opponents from Killaloe have offered plenty of grit through the campaign, seeing off Salesian Secondary School, Pallaskenry and Coláiste Croabhinn, Fermoy. And in the semi final, Killaloe were asked serious questions only to dig deep and claim a single point win over Coláiste na Trocaire, Rathkeale.
No quarter will be asked or given in this one in the makings of a cracking contest. However if Boherbue can muster one more supreme effort, they are capable of landing silverware.
Newmarket seek out back to back places in the Tom Creedon Cup Final on a clash against St. Michaels in the penultimate hurdle in Newmarket on Saturday.
Both sides impressed en-route, Newmarket defeated by Beál Áthan Ghaorthaidhin the 2016 decider packed too much scoring power for Macroom and Kinsale. For their part, St. Michaels made light work of Millstreet in ruthless fashion.
The city side will be difficult to dislodge but Newmarket hold the capabilities of advancing to the decider to a meeting against reigning holders Beál Áthan Ghaorthaidh.
The Ducon Cup (JAFL) continues on Sunday, Boherbue fresh from a win over Lyre will hope to maintain a winning vein on entertaining Dromtariffe. Meanwhile seasonal debutants Castlemagner and Cullen swing into action on a clash at Station Road.
