Schoolchildren put their minds to what matters
THE benefits of meditation and mindfulness are profound, and now people living in Kanturk and surrounding areas can avail of a wonderful programme in mindful living facilitated by International wellbeing coach and yoga teacher Susan Fitzgerald.
Pupils at the local Convent of Mercy National School were treated to a two-hour taster last week when Susan launched her programme at the school where principal Derval Vaughan is very encouraging on embedding a culture of mindfulness and empowerment for teachers, pupils, and parents.
With in excess of 25 years experience in this field, Susan brings extensive knowledge to her craft and her passion is to make meditation and mindfulness accessible to people of all ages.
Having previously managed leisure centres and health clubs in Dubai and Ireland, Susan has recently developed her own mindful living course which will be available to all schools, and also for seminars, workshops, and retreats.
Susan’s Book ‘Mind over Mountains’ which was published in 2015 encourages us to live lives of freedom, authentic self-expression, and empathy. Susan has overcome several challenges on her journey, but chose to use these life traumas to explore and overcome the ‘victim’ mentality and to learn from the challenges that life inevitably throws our way.
Susan will also offer mindful living classes to adults in Kanturk and other towns in North Cork in the coming months, with weekly adult classes starting in the Convent of Mercy NS building in Kanturk, on Thursday, March 2 from 7.30 - 8.30pm.
