Footballer­s left to rue missed chances as they share points

ON Sunday last Newmarket hosted Glanworth in a Division 3 county football league tie.

In a game which ended all square, Newmarket will rue a number of missed opportunit­ies throughout the hour.

The first half saw the locals lead 0-8 to 0-3, with points coming from Daniel Cullotty (5), Barry O’Connor, Conor O’ Keeffe and Ryan O’Keeffe.

The second half saw the Avondhu men kick five unanswered points from the fourth to the 34th minutes, with their top scorer and Avondhu senior Michael Sheehan getting the all-important equaliser in the final moment of the game, after Newmarket losing position and conceding a free.
