A FASCINATING Duhallow Scór na bPáistí Finals attracted a bumper attendance to the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk last Sunday where national schools from across the division put forward cultural fare at its best in music, song and dance to production.

At the end of an exciting programme, many months of preparation yielded unanimous approval from the audience.

From the Kanturk Credit Union sponsored event, taking the limelight were Boherbue on recording five outright wins, Rockchapel landed a pair of victories with wins also for Rathcoole, Cullen, Kanturk and Knocknagree.

From the off, Boherbue hit the perfect start with their “Cross Reel” to the fore in the opening figure dancing. Cullen’s Anna Moynihan delivered a splendid rendition of “The Shores of Lough Bran” to sample success in the solo singing class, emulating the success of her older sister Maggie in Scór na nOg.

At instrument music, Boherbue offered foot tapping tunes to swing the outcome with their interpretation of lively offerings of jigs and reels. Excellent competition in the demanding recitation earned triumph for Ciara Lenihan from Kanturk with his excellent interpretation of “The First Confession”.

Boherbue emerged in the ballad group with harmonies aplenty in their two offerings titles “Far Away” and “Cill Mhuire” to take victory. And Boherbue delighted their supporters in their Leiriú, their production “The Camogie Season” holding sway.

Six teams threaded the boards in the always looked forward to set dancing where Boherbue gained the upperhand on parading “The Plain Set”. A rewarding outing secured Rockchapel the question time title, adding up an impressive marking that fended off the challenge of runners up Boherbue and Rathcoole.

Three solo competitions to the programme generated interest, a solo music category was won by Sinéad O’Neill from Rockchapel while Seán O’Keeffe (Knocknagree) took the spoils in the seanós dancing and Conor Singleton from Rathcoole collected the ordinary solo dance class.
