LISCARROLL AC

Nenagh Indoor Stadium was a hive of activity last weekend. The occasion was the Munster u13 and u19 championships.

While competition was intense and competitive, Liscarroll AC athletes were up to the challenge both on track and on field events.

Top medallist of the weekend was Vickie Cusack u18 who had not lost any of her form, despite being out of action for more than two months, finishing up on Sunday with three gold medals. She won her first in the shot put event with a throw of 10.54m, her second in the long jump at 5.15m and her third in the 60m hurdles in a time of 10.46 secs.

Ciara Sheehy u16 was really on fire in the shot put, winning with a throw of 13.42m and smashing the Munster record by 2 metres and just 0.16cm short of the National record.

Aoife O’Sullivan u15 was another athlete on fire when winning her gold in the high hump at 1.654m and equalling the Munster record in the process and just 2cm short of the national record.

Amy Whelan u14 won gogd in the bhot put, throwing 10.99m back to her best since 2016.

Hollie McCarthy u15, a silver weekend on the track, finishing second in the 60m spring in 8.12 sec on Saturday and followed this up with a second place in the 60m hurdles in 9.60 secs by just three hundreds of a second. the big problem with this event was that results were decided by their heat time against the clock, with no chance to compete in a final.

Sarah O’Keeffe u18, though carrying an injury, won bronze medals in shot put 9.36m and in the 60m hurdles in 10.63 secs.

Joe Ivory u15, was in his first shot put competition and did not disappoint.

Jordan Mason u17, competed in his first championships showing great promise in the sprints.

Emma Lehane u13 had a good championships, even though not in the medals.

Three girls, all sisters, Irene u14, Isobel u13 and Anna u17 Kellegher who have only been with the Club for a short number of weeks, were really given a baptism of fire, competing at this level, but they competed. learned a lot and had a good time.
