Stirring music promised as féile grows into Millstreet Trad Fest

SWEET strains of fiddles, banjos and bodhráns are on the cards for Millstreet .

The local Comhalthas Ceolteiorí Eireann group is embarking on a exciting programme by expanding their annual féile cheoil to a weekend event renamed the Millstreet Trad Fest.

The programme of events opens on Saturday, April 1, and the schedule sees music workshops with renowned musicians and singers in Millstreet Community School from 10am-1pm in fiddle, singing, box, concertina and tin whistle/flute categories.

That’s followed later on Saturday evening with a free concert/album launch with Aidan McMahon, Mike Butler and Michael Landers in the Green Glens Coach House, the proceeding­s completed by a trad music session.

All are welcome to the concert in the intimate setting of The Coach House Bar within the Green Glens Arena. Artists Aidan McMahon (Fiddle), Mike Butler (Box) and Michael Landers (Guitar) promise to entertain with their mix of traditiona­l tunes and folk & country songs. The Ennis-based trio are using the opportunit­y to launch their album, “Yield up the Night Time”, to a Millstreet audience in a relaxed and enjoyable night.

Following the concert, all promise to join in a seisiún with local and visiting musicians and the word is bring your instrument­s.
