Casey has a job on her hands in final

Catriona has the ability and experience to retain the title, but she will have to be at her best to overcome McMahon who continues to improve with every game and is never easily beaten.

Next up from a Cork point of view will be Intermedia­te Singles in which Mallow player Tadgh Carroll play Wexford’s Daniel Kavanagh, Tadgh Carroll is the more experience­d of the two players involved here had a very good Munster championsh­ip and also an impressive semi-final win over Tyrone’s Shane O’Neill.

In Kavanagh he faces a promising young Wexford player who continues to improve and has had a good championsh­ip on his way to the final, all going well for Carroll he should win it but expect a big show from his opponent.

Cork’s third final will be Minor Singles in which Mallow player Tadgh O’Neill faces Kilkenny’s Eoin Brennan a clash that promises to produce a lively contest, Tadgh O’Neill has continued to improve with every game got to this final last year losing narrowly to Tyrone then went on to win a Minor doubles title partnered by his clubmate David Walsh.

He has continued that form this year an impressive Munster championsh­ip campaign followed by another good win in the All Ireland semi-final lets hope that run of form continues and that he can win this one.

Our fourth Final on Saturday bring John Herlihy, St Finbarrs face to face with Dublin player Egin Jensen, John Herlihy stands a good chance of winning this one provided he produces the form that he is capable of, but he has to do that to overcome Jensen.

On Sunday the spotlight switches to the Juvenile Finals and here our Compunet IT Solutions sponsored players will contest two finals both in Under 17 grade. In Girls Under 17 Singles Aoife Hurley, Conna plays Molly O’Connor, Laois.

In our second final Boys Under 17 Doubles Mallow pair Niall Delany / Stephen O’Rourke face Wexford Ciaran Power / Colm Parnell in what promises to be a close contest.

The Cork pair have been impressive in their games to date and have prepared well for this final, but need to up the ante again to hopefully win the title.

Last weekend was a very successful one for Mallow Credit union sponsored teams in Munster Inter County team championsh­ip winning both Under 12/13 and Under 16/17 titles keeping alive their hope of All-Ireland glory in a few weeks time.

In Under 12/13 played in Ballydesmo­nd the Cork team was most impressive defeating Tipperary 71 aces to 58 in quarter final,defeated Clare 75 aces to 23 in semi-final and overcame Waterford in the final 75 aces to five.

The team was made up of four Fermoy players Cameron Sullivan, Cian Cronin O’Neill, Ben Sullivan and Hayden Supple, two Ballydesmo­nd players John Cronin, Eoin Daly, Calum McCarthy, Liscarroll and Eanna McInerney, Mallow.

In Under 16/17 played in Mallow Cork again took the spoils defeating Tipperary in semi-final 60 aces to nine and defeated Waterford in Final 60 aces to 21. The Cork team on duty was two Liscarroll players Colin Healy and Luke Barrett and two Mallow players Anthony O’Connell and Brooklyn Hickey.

Cork lost out narrowly in Under 14/15 also played in Ballydesmo­nd after a close run all the way with never more that a few aces between them Tipperary shaded it on a score of 74 aces to 67, with Tipperary going on to easily beat Clare in a semi-final and Waterford in the final.

The Cork team on duty here was three Boherbue players Darragh Ducey, Cathal Ducey, Evan Enright, two Liscarroll players Gearoid Healy, Donal Jones, Owen Hegarty, Fermoy, Kealin Murphy, Ballydesmo­nd and Stevie O’Donnell, Kilworth.

The County 40/20 Championsh­ip is gradually drawing to a conclusion. In Senior Singles Final Brendan Fleming, Ballydesmo­nd defeated Tadgh Carroll, Mallow. In Senior Doubles Tony Healy and Brendan Fleming, Ballydesmo­nd defeated Mallow pair Tadgh Carroll, Ryan Harkin.

In Novice A Singles Final Oisin Hickey,Kilworth defeated Eoghan Sheehan, Mallow.

In Novice A Doubles Final Eoghan Sheehan, Mallow teams up with Oisin Hickey, Kilworth they face Conna’s Pa Dillon / Pa Roche in the final in Fermoy on Saturday evening at 6.30.

Also on Saturday evening at Kilworth 7pm start both semi-finals on Novice B Singles will be decided, with Tadgh Jones, Liscarroll taking on Batt Sheehan, Conna while in the second semi-final Dwayne Sheehan, Liscarroll face the winner of all Conna clash of Shane O’Connell v M Kielty.
