Mallow Library remembers Colm Dwane with great competition for schools
MALLOW Library has launched a Cruinniú na Cásca School Competition for the Colm Dwane Memorial Perpetual Cup.
Mallow Library has a long standing association with the Thomas Davis Pipe Band, from sharing the Town Hall premises for many years to the gifting by the pipe band of a beautiful trophy in memory of Colm Dwane. It is therefore with great pride and delight that the staff of the library are running a competition for the schools in the area to support the Cruinniú na Cásca Pipe Band Tattoo on Easter Monday in Mallow Castle.
As part of Creative Ireland, the Government’s Legacy Programme for Ireland 2017-2022, Easter Monday sees many creative events taking place under the Cruinniú na Cásca initiative. To tie in with the events in Mallow town, Mallow Library would like schools in the surrounding areas to make a collage based on what happened in their area over Easter.
Teachers are asked to encourage the children to be creative. They may use words, paint, fabric, etc. The aim is to show creativity.
Each class can compile their work into one collage and can be up to A1 in size. One entry per class may be submitted.
The prize for the best overall school will be the Colm Dwane Memorial Perpetual Cup, which will be hosted by the winning school for a year. There will also be a selection of other prizes.
Each school is asked to submit entries to the library in Mallow by Friday 28th April. All entries will be on display in the library during the month of May.
