Shanballym­ore have easy win over Grange in JBFC

started off well and early points by Colin Scott, Noel Barry and Shane Leane were followed by a Barry Sheedy point for Shanballym­ore. Noel Barry with another pointed free opened up a threepoint lead after 15 minutes.

Further disaster hit Grange as they lost their sterling centre back Michael Hennessy through injury. From here on Shanballym­ore thundered into the game. They were on top in midfield and their attack in regular supply took some good scores. Grange failed to score for the rest of the half with Jamie Sheedy, Eoin McHugh and Kenneth Barry adding points that had the sides level 0-4 each after 21 minutes.

Good play by Jamie Sheedy led to a lead point by Darragh Palmer. In the closing moments a foul on Sean Lynch produced a pointed free by Kenneth Barry 0-6 to 0-4 at the break.

On the restart good play by Colman O’Reilly led to a great point by Kenneth Barry. Barry pointed another free after a foul on Vincent Burke. Eoin McHugh with a long range free made it 0-9 to 0-4. Good play by Darragh Palmer and Eoin McHugh led to a brilliant point by Miceal Burke. By the end of the third quarter Shanbally had moved 0-12 to 0-4 clear. Grange had their first score of the second half in the 51st minute by Conor O’Halloran.

There was no way back as the winners controlled matters and three more points by Eoin McHugh, Paul Burke and Barry Sheedy completed their tally. Brian Cashman pointed a Grange free and a ‘45’ in the closing moments. There was no denying Shanballym­ore their deserved victory.
