Easter ceremonies in Mitchelsto­wn parish

THE following are the Easter Ceremonies in Mitchelsto­wn Parish for this weekend.

Holy Thursday:

Parish Church: Morning prayer and Bible reading 10am. There will be Mass at 5pm. This year’s First Holy Communion class will participat­e in the Mass. There will also be Mass of the Lord’s supper at 7.30pm followed by procession to the Altar of Repose.

All Eucharisti­c ministers are asked to be present at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday to renew their Commitment. They are asked to line up at the Sanctuary steps during the Prayers of the Faithful. There will be Adoration of the Lord at the Altar of Repose up to 12mn.

There will be a conducted holy hour between 11pm and 12mn. Ballygibli­n & Kilacluig Churches (Holy Thursday): Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7.30pm; adoration till 9pm.

Good Friday:

A day of fast and abstinance. Morning prayer and Bible reading from 10am, celebratio­n of the Lord’s passion and Holy Communion 3pm, stations of the cross, 7.30pm; prayer around the cross, 9.30pm.

The usual collection for the Christian shrines in the Holy Land will be taken up.

The Divine Mercy Novena begins on Good Friday and finishes on the second Sunday of Easter, April 23. Throughout the nine days of the novena beginning this Friday, the novena will be recited in the parish church each day at 3pm.

There will be special celebratio­n in the parish church on the feast day as usual at 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, April 23.

Ballygibli­n & Kilacluig Church (Good Friday) passion of the lord and Holy Communion, 3pm; stations of the cross, 7.30pm.

Holy Saturday:

Holy Saturday morning: Morning prayer and Bible reading, 10am;

Easter vigil Mass will be at 9pm (candles will be provided). Please note there will be no 7.30pm Mass on Holy Saturday evening.

Ballygibli­n & Kilacluig Churches: Easter vigil 9pm.

Confession­s: Thursday 12md to 1pm, Friday 12md to 1pm and after Good Friday ceremonies. 12.00md to 1.00pm and 6.30pm to 7.30pm Easter Saturday.
