DAWN CHORUS WALK

Castlemagner Sinsir Club will host their annual Dawn Chorus Walk in Aid of the Mercy Hospital, Cork, on the Morning of Saturday, April 29, beginning at 05 a.m. This year’s walk will incorporate the panoramic views of the historic battle site of the Hill of Knocknanuss.

The four mile walk will feature a range of wild bird habitats such as open grassland and farmland, deciduous woodland, waterways and hedgerows. The guides on the morning will be birdwatch expert Vivial O’Gorman and Fr Michael Dorgan PP. Transport pick-up points will be provided at various points along the route for those who feel like a shorter walk.

The starting point for the walk is located near Bourke’s of Subulter and assembly here is at 4.45 a.m. Those, who are unfamiliar with the area should head for Castlemagner Community Centre, from where they will be directed by stewards to the starting point.

Castlemagner Dawn Chorus Walk is famous for its hearty Full Irish Barbecued Breakfast which will be served as always by our gourmet chefs at Castlemagner Community Centre on completion of the walk. Entry fee for adults is €10 and for children is €5. This includes breakfast. Walkers are asked to wear walking boots.

All funds raised on the morning will go to the Intensive Care Unit at the Mercy University Hospital, Cork. Those interested in registering for this unique, special event and worthy cause should contact 086 8521808.

EASTER CEREMONIES

Schedule of Easter Ceremonies at St Mary’s Church, Castlemagner.

On Holy Thursday, April 13, Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7.30 p.m. Ministers of the Eucharist will be commissioned for the coming year at this mass. Exposition of the blessed sacrament at the Altar of Repose will take place till 10.30 p.m. Trócaire boxes should be handed in on Holy Thursday. It would be helpful if coins could be changed into notes.

On Good Friday, April 14, the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion will commence at 3 p.m. Stations of the cross will be at 7.30 p.m. A collection for the Holy Places will be taken up on Good Friday.

On Holy Saturday, April 15, the Easter Vigil Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 8.30 p.m.

On Easter Sunday Morning, April 16, Masses will be at 9 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Easter Offerings for the priests in the parish may be handed in on Saturday and Sunday.

SINSIR CLUB

Castlemagner Sinsir Club will take a break over the Easter season and resume its activity afternoons again on Thursday, April 27, Everyone is welcome including new members.

The group meets on Thursdays at midday till 2 p.m. in Castlemagner Community Centre. The club wishes to extend best wishes to all its members over the easter break.
