UNDER 21 TRIUMPH FOR ST KEVIN’S
St. Kevin’s closed the gap before the break. Points by Brian Murphy and Damian Buckley left just a goal between the sides after 16 minutes play. Killavullen rallied well with Charlie Lillis (2) and Michael Fresh kicking pointed frees each 1-7 to 0-4. Points by Shane Buckley, Damian Buckley (2) and Brian Murphy had the lead down to two points at the break 1-7 to 0-8.
For the second half St Kevin’s were well in control being physically stronger. Killavullen lost a few players through injury. Early pointed long range frees by Damian Buckley (2) and Dylan O’Sullivan- McCarthy from play had the winners ahead 0-11 to 1-7.
Michael Fresh levelled with a good point. Killian O’Gorman and Mark Buckley with great points set St Kevin’s on their way 0-13 to 1-8 after 38 minutes. Good play by Jonathan Sheehan led to a fine long range point by Damian Buckley. Killavullen made a good run but Patrick Angland’s effort for a badly needed score went wide off the post.
Damian Buckley soloed through for a point with Patrick Angland keeping his side in touch with a point 0-15 to 1-9 entering the final quarter. Good play by William Fitzgerald to Damian Buckley led to a fine Shane Buckley point on the run. Damian Buckley added two more points with Killavullen having an injury time point when Michael Fresh put Jack O’Connor through from a title angle.
After the game Barry Aherne Board Chairman presented the cup to the winning captain Damian Buckley.
