Banteer hurlers secure back to back league wins

-

Tarrant and a Denis Roche goal laid the groundwork for a perfect start.

Steadily, Newmarket’s game got moving and points from Donal Hannon, Barry O’Connor and Gavin Forde trimmed the arrears 1-6 to 0-7 at the break. Though Banteer added to their tally, the game was in the melting pot after a Niall Rohan goal brought Newmarket into contention.

However Banteer refused to capitulate and held the answers on replying in the best possible means from a Tarrant goal to secure a deserved win. BANTEER stepped up the pace after the interval to deliver a ten point home win against Castlemagner in the Twohigs Supervalu JAHL.

Coming up with the answers in the second half, Banteer delivered on the finer aspects to control the contest that earned due reward from goals netted by Denis Roche and Damien Kearney.

Early on, the hosts availed of a productive start to shade matters on points to James McAulliffe, Denis Roche and Tadgh Sexton.

Castlemagner improved, tackling their task for Bryan Barry and Ruairí O’Mahony to score yet Banteer held the greater options to force a 0-9 to 0-5 interval grip. And Banteer quickly asserted themselves on the restart, becoming increasingly dominant on the telling play of Richard O’Connor, Tim O’Callaghan and Martin Kearney.

Their position was enhanced on a goal to Roche and the destination of the spoils were seals once Damien Kearney added a second goal.
