With the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship game v Kanturk on Sunday week it is worth noting Newmarket’s proud record over the years in this coveted championship.

The club holds 13 titles, in 1934/36, 1942, 1946/48, 1950,1964, 1974/76, 1979.

Please note that while they are credited with the 1937 title this is not so as Newmarket and Banteer clashed on three occassions to decide the 1937 title - that championship was declared null and void.

The club’s last appearance in the decider was in 1985, 32 years ago when they lost out to Lismire.
