-

Rebel Og MAFC. They reached the Divisional final losing to Fermoy. Both teams took part in the County championship, Kilshannig had a big win over St Vincent’s defeated Fermoy narrowly before going on to record a massive county final victory over O’Donovan Rossa by 0-17 to 0-13 in a memorable contest.

Kilshannig’s U-16 footballers competed in the County Premier 2 FC in 2016. They had a very successful season winning the county title with a 3-5 to 1- 8 win over Carbery Rangers. Kilshannig won the North Cork U-21 ‘B’ FC title in 2014 when they defeated Buttevant in the final. Kilshannig have up to eight minors in their U-21 side. They will look to the experienced Alan O’Connell, Brian Guerin, Killian Murphy, and Dylan O’Callaghan to add to their minors Kevin McMahon, Diarmuid O’Sullivan, Darragh O’Sullivan, Jack Twomey, Jerome Murphy and Tony Brennan to name but some.

Mallow have plenty of experience in their side. They got off to a poor start against Mitchelstown in the opening game but came back well with a series of scores before half time by Sean Hayes, Bobby Kennedy, Craig Lynch and Darragh Moynihan. They were also forced to come from behind against Fermoy in the semi-final. The game went to extra-time and four goals for Mallow proved vital as they emerged winners by 4-13 to 0-21. Mallow’s 4- 13 tally in that semi-final came from Sean Hayes 2-6, Eoin Murphy 1-1, Mark Kenny 1-1, Craig Lynch 0-2, Peadar Hennessy 0-1, Trevor McEvoy 0-1, Kevin Taylor 0-1.

Key players like Trevor McEvoy, Jack Kennedy, Craig Lynch, Stephen O’Callaghan, Mark Kenny and Sean Hayes will all pose a major threat to Kilshannig. The Mallow side are likely to be without the injured Alec Luttrell and Darragh Moynihan who was sent off in the semi final.

On Sunday last goalkeeper Kevin Doyle and Trevor McEvoy were key members of Mallow County Premier IFC win over Nemo Rangers. Sean Hayes, who was injured, was on their panel.
