It’s school awards time in Mallow, Buttevant and Boherbue
Pupils at Colaiste Mhuire, Buttevant were honoured last week when the annual Students Achievement Awards Ceremony was held at the school.
“This is always one of the most important events on the school calendar where the students efforts over the past academic year are recognised and celebrated,” school principal Donal O’ Sullivan told the Corkman.
Sinead Kane was the guest of honour at the event, presenting the students with their certificates and awards.
Sinead is well known as a solicitor, certified mediator, writer with the Irish Criminal Law Journal, columnist with the Irish Sun, speaker, and blogger.
Sinead, who became the first visually impaired person to complete seven marathons in seven continents over seven days, gave an inspirational talk to the entire school community.
The message that “we are all capable of achieving great things if we want something bad enough, and if we are willing to work really hard to achieve it” struck a chord with the entire audience and she received a standing ovation from everybody.
During the celebration, a huge number of Coláiste Mhuire student achievements were honoured across a diverse range of school related activities, both academic and other.
The Coláiste music students also added to the overall occasion with performances from the school’s trad and rap groups and the senior choir.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to say well done to all of the students whose efforts and achievements have been recognised,” said Mr O’Sullivan.
