Mallow Chamber public meeting
A PUBLIC meeting will take place in Mallow next Wednesday evening at which people will be invited to share their ideas about how to best promote the town in the future.
Buoyed by the success of the recent free parking initiative introduced by Cork County Council, Mallow Chamber has called the meeting to discuss ways of encouraging more people to visit the town.
Chamber president Sean Lynch said the initiative, which allows for free parking on Friday from 1pm and all day Saturday (time limits still apply) had been well received by members.
“This is a positive move that has been welcomed by traders. They have responded well, with 12 outlets offering a free cup of coffee encouraging greater footfall to the town,” said Mr Lynch.
“The public meeting, which will take place next Wednesday at 6pm in the Hibernian Hotel, will be a vehicle to discuss what other positive actions could be taken to encourage more shoppers into the town,” he added.
Other items that will be discussed on the night include: the various initiatives the Chamber has planned to capitalise on and promote the free parking scheme which will run until the end of August and the future direction of parking and traffic management in the town.
Attendees will also be given an overview of Cork County Council’s street scape painting project and the Mallow loyalty card initiative, with more than 60 local outlets having signed up to the scheme.
Mr Lynch said he was hoping there would be a large turn out at the meeting.
“Mallow town needs your attendance, support and contributions,” he said.
“Like you, Mallow Chamber wants to see more footfall in the town and by working together we can make that happen.”
