ALMOST 60 women attended a seminar aimed at the business community and how to best stand out in the world of information technology.
The informative seminar, held at the Castle Hotel in Macroom, was hosted by Macroom E Enterprise Centre and AIB Bank, Macroom. Guest speakers included Roisin Glynn, Head of Social Media, AIB and Moira O’Brien, Lee Valley Speakers along with Orla Kelly.
Anne Marie McMahon of AIB Macroom began the proceedings and then it was over to Roisin Glynn who gave her top tips on how to reach and engage with an audience via social media. She offered a valuable insight into how AIB has used various channels over the past number of years to communicate their message and increase brand awareness.
Moira O’Brien gave a master-class in ‘ The Elevator Pitch,’ by using her Toastmasters and Lee Valley speakers background. She offered suggestions on how to deliver a memorable, engaging and lively speech.
Orla Kelly of Orla Kelly Publishing told her story of taking the leap from the safe confines as an employee to writing a book, to launching her own publishing business and how she used digital to help reach her customers. She now helps others publish their books to sell online. Catherine Costello of Macroom E Enterprise Centre wrapped up the event and encouraged all in attendance to continue to meet and to tell their stories.
This is the second such event, as in November over 50 women attended, ‘Can we be happier at work,’ a collaborative attempt by Macroom E Enterprise Centre and AIB Macroom to bring the business women of Macroom together to learn how to up their happiness levels and achieve a better work-life balance.
