THE past year has been one of fantastic developments for Charleville CBS Secondary School, during which they celebrated 150 years of the Christian Brothers in Charleville and the official opening of a state of the art practical suite last November.

This was stated by board of management chairperson Jacqueline Morrissey when she addressed the attendance at the annual awards day at the Charleville Park Hotel last Thursday.

Ms Morrissey continued that the woodwork facilities and construction studies were also extended to the senior cycle, as well as new parking areas with the emphasis on the safety of pupils and the introduction of new traffic management system for both the primary and secondary schools.

“The changes to the school are still ongoing and the updating of the electrical system in the older part of the school will commence very shortly, and this will be another great addition to the school,” said Ms Morrissey.

“We have had big changes in the staff during the year and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Una Griffin, our new principal, and Tracey Groome, our deputy-principal, not forgetting our new caretaker, Tadgh Mortell,” she said.

Ms Morrissey thanked Ms Griffin for the leadership and commitment she has shown since she assumed the position of principal, and all the teaching staff and Geraldine in administration, and all the other members of the school community for their dedication and commitment to Charleville CBS Secondary School.

She also wished all those students sitting examinations the very best and success in their endeavours.
