Kanturk cyclists continue their winning ways

-

RACING continued last weekend in Coachford, where a large number of youths and seniors from the O’Leary Stone Kanturk Cycling Club competed.

The youths started with the U12’s competing over half a lap with Ewen McConville finishing 2nd, Sean Tarrant taking a very strong 3rd and Stephen Sheehan winning 1st unplaced U11.

Michael Nolan continues to improve every week, and also Olivier Dumoulin, who finished well. In U14 they raced over one lap and Patrick Morley won 1st unplaced U13. Unfortunately, David Shine was forced out through a mechanical problem.

In the U16 two lap race, Kanturk took 5 out of the top 6 places. Tom Moriarty had a great win with Sean Barrett 2nd, Tom O’Connor 4th, Luke Thompson 5th and Daniel Yonhin 6th with Denis Murphy, Tadgh Walsh and Arnaud Dumoulin finishing in the bunch. Lucy O’Donnell was 1st girl U16.

Billy Allen, Mikey Moriarty, Stephen Gilman competed in the senior racing.

Meanwhile, Darragh O’Mahony is working his way up the field in the An Post Ras, which is currently taking place this week.

The O’Leary Stone Kanturk Cycling Club would like to thank all the locals for showing their support to the cyclists during our three day event recently. We would also like to thank the Gardaí and the Red Cross for their assistance. We would like to thank Twohig’s SuperValu Kanturk, Kanturk Credit Union, Newmarket Credit Union, Mackessy’s Chemist, Newmarket; Murphy’s Bakery and Tarrant’s Skoda Garage, Banteer for their support for the three day event.

Meanwhile, training continues for all ages.
