Mallow and Cloyne finish all square in County IHL

Diarmuid O’Sullivan led to a long range point for Cloyne by Ian Cahill. Colm O’Sullivan edged the East Cork side ahead with a 13th minute point 0-5 to 1-1.

Mallow were back on terms soon after when Sean Hayes pointed a free after a foul on Donal Relihan. Sean Hayes and Brian Walsh swopped a point as the sides were level 1-3 to 0-6 after 19 minutes. Cloyne hit the front again with points by Dylan Cahill and Ashley Walsh. Danny Buckley had two points for Mallow. In the dying moments good play by Jordan Sherlock and Maurice Lynch led to a fine Ian Cahill point. Deep in injury time Keith Dennehy sent over as Cloyne held an interval lead 0-10 to 1-5.

For the second half Mallow moved Pa Herlihy to midfield to partner Paul Lyons. Good play by Donal Relihan led to a fine Paul Lyons point. Keith Dennehy replied for the East Cork side. In the 40th minute Denis Hayes worked well for Donal Relihan who made it 0-11 to 1-7.

A good movement by Maurice Lynch and Paudie O’Sullivan led to a well taken Cloyne point by Keith Dennehy. Sean Hayes and Brian O’Shea exchanged a point entering the final quarter as Cloyne led 0-13 to 1-8. Mallow battled back very well. Paul Lyons had two great points to force level for the sixth time.

Mallow looked on course for a win when Sean Hayes, Pa Herlihy and Brian O’Riordan with sublime points opened up a lead 1-13 to 0-13. Cloyne forced level when Dylan Cahill put Brian Walsh through for a well taken goal with 8 minutes to go 1-13 each. Mallow again hit the front through Sean Hayes. Mallow keeper Aidan Long saved well from Brian Walsh as Cloyne fought hard to take the points. Dylan Cahill levelled soon after at 1-14 apiece. Mallow again went ahead through Sean Hayes and

Paul Lyons but they were pegged back in injury time with two points for Cloyne by Jake Houlihan and Dylan Cahill. After being level on 9 occasions it was only fitting they should share the points.
