Ambitious plans to extend astro-turf facilities and develop enterprise units

-

THE Banteer Community Sportsfield and Park group are now progressing planning permission for full sized astro pitch to further progress the development of the facility which has proven hugely popular in the area.

The plan is not just for a full-sized astro-turf pitch but also extended changing rooms and stand at the top pitch plus a covered stand in the main pitch.

Plus the group also envisage the development of enterprise units in the adjacent purchased site.

Subject to planning and obtaining the capital funding this plan will be hopefully implemented in the next five to seven years.

It’s an ambitious plan yet quite feasible and would greatly advance the facilities available in the locality.

The Sportsfield/Park annual draw goes towards the costs of operating, maintaining and developing the facility. And this draw has been greatly supported locally.

For example, up to €90,000 was spent in 2016 on pitch maintenance, new tractor, aeration machine, electronic scoreboard and property purchase on top of the normal running costs.

These developments works are for the benefit of all users.

This year the group has already completed tree pruning work so far and will be doing pitch maintenance/sanding, litter bins and, subject to funding from the Sports Capital Grant scheme, new fencing for the main pitch.
