COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Buttevant Community Council, although not always visible, on the ground, are continually active, lobbying public representatives, public bodies, and organisations for the betterment of the local community.

The community council, has been instrumental in procuring, many worthwhile amenities and services, which would not have been secured, without pressurising the relevant authorities. The streetscape project is one such examply, yet it still draws criticism from some “hurlers on the ditch”.

The community council, is currently promoting a project, of procuring funding for the establishment of a public amenity park and walkway adjacent to the bank of the Awbeg River.

The community council is also responsible for the installation of a hi-tech CCTV security system, for the town which, it is hoped, will help combat crime and vandalism.

The community council members, though few In numbers, also promote the motto of “pride of place, and pride in your community”.

The community council members are ordinary people who give of their time to help make Buttevant a better place in which to live for everyone in the local community. So give your support where possible to foster this idea and community ideals.
