ATHLETICS CLUB

CLUB athletes enjoyed a great day at the Cork Co Juvenle multi events and senior and master championships last Sunday.

At Juvenile level we had only one athlete in the multi events, Emma Lehane, u13 competed in the 80m hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and 800m. She finished in 5th place, a very creditable result.

At senior level were heather Basrrett, Niamh Lehane, Vickie Cusack, Sean Discombe, David Hamilton, Jordan Mason and Finbarr Whelan, Tim Fitzpatrick and Gerard Leahy. Results as follows: Senior, Niamh Linehan, 1st 200m, 3rd 100m, 3rd long jump.

Vickie Cusack 1st 400m hurdles, 1st long jump, 1st high jump, 1st javelin, 2nd 100m, 3rd shot put.

Jordan Mason: 1st 200m, 2nd 100m, 3rd 400m.

David Hamilton: 2nd 200m, 3rd 100m, 4th 400m.

Masters: Finbarr Whelan 1st 100m, 1st 200m, 1st high jump, 1st shot put, 1st discus, 1st hammer, 1st weight, 2nd javelin.

Tim Fitzpatrick: 1st shot put, 1st discus, 1st javelin, 1st hammer.

Gerard Leahy: 1st 200m, 1st high jump, 2nd discus, 2nd 400m.

The senior men’s relay team won gold in the 4x100m race -David Hamilton, Sean Discombe, Finbarr Whelan and Jordan Mason.

Some of the above athletes who compete senior will be in action again on Sunday next, May 28 in the Co Junior Championships at CIT.

Sunday, June 11: Munster Senior and Masters Championships at CIT.

Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June: Munster Juvenile under 14 to 19 championships at CIT.

Thursday June 1: Little Athletes at Liscarroll 6.30-7.30.

Friday, June 2: at Charleville 6.30-8. All ages.

Monday, June 5: Bank holiday -- no training.

MUNSTER SCHOOLS RESULTS

The Munster School Championships were held at CIT Cork on Saturday last, May 20. Results as follows:

Hollie McCarthy, 2nd 100m, 2nd hurdles.

Amy Whelan: 3rd javelin, 3rd shot put.

Aoife O’Sullivan: 2nd high jump. Joe Ivory: 1st javelin. Ciara Sheehy: 1st shot put, 1st discus.

Vickie Cusack: 3rd 400m hurdles, 3rd javelin.

Kevin O’Leary: 3rd hurdles.
