Tidy Towns set course for Spa Glen

-

MALLOW Tidy Towns wish to thank everyone who took part in and contributed to their church gate collection last week as continued support is of vital importance to the group.

On Saturday morning at 10.30am, MTT will plant two new flower beds on the Cork Road in the next phase of this project and if you have an hour to spare MTT would appreciate as much help as possible to get the job done.

Residents in the Spa Glen area are mobilising on Tuesday, June 13 at 7pm to carry out a tidy up and litter pick from Beechwood Park to the Spa House. The area has been heavily littered of late and the group are delighted to support those involved with bags, litter pickers and road signage and are inviting everyone from Beechwood Park, River Valley, Cairnwoods, Tinley Park and surrounding areas to join in the clean up.

MTT have requested the help of the County Council with hedge cutting and fence mending in the area.

The results of the second judging period in the Cork County Council Anti-Litter challenge has been published. In a statement MTT said after all the hard work of volunteers and others, including Mallow Scout troop, the items of litter and cigarette butts teamed up against them and Mallow lost several positions in the league table dropping from fourth position to seventh in a group consisting of ten towns. In this second judging the Church of the Resurrection area and Sean Moylan Park scored the best with results being in the mid 90s.

MTT are determined to put in a big effort for the third and final period from June 6 to June 14 and all the assistance in this effort will be greatly appreciated.
