Ballydesmond host Ducon semis

-

TWO semi-finals to the Ducon Cup command interest in a double bill at Ballydesmond on Sunday.

With times to be confirmed, Boherbue and Dromtariffe is an appealing clash, little expected to separate the pair.

As defending holders, Boherbue are seeking a four in a row of titles and current going indicates, they are a team in form. Todate, the sides have twice met in the preliminary rounds, first time out, a clinical Boherbue took their chances to record a 4-8 to 0-17 victory with early goals to Richard Moynihan and Ross O’Connor key to the win.

In the return leg, Boherbue’ s better finishing swung the outcome to record a seven point win. On that occasion, Dromtariffe goals by Daniel O’Keeffe and Gearóid Murphy did offer encouragement.

The return from injury of Seamus O’Sullivan is sure to boost Dromtariffe. Not much is expected to separate the pair but by virtue of searching for four consecutive titles, Boherbue may possess the hunger to shade the encounter.

Cullen and Knocknagree are part of the double bill to the appealing Ballydesmond programme in a repeat to last season’s JAFC final. When the sides met earlier in the campaign, Cullen pulled out all the stops to overcome their neighbours.

In a welter of excitement, Alan Regan thumped over the match winning point to allow Cullen put a halt to Knocknagree’s unbeaten run. Typically, the Knocknagree response was emphatic and wins over Lyre and Castlemagner confirmed a top of the table position after the preliminary series.

Cullen’s form is somewhat inconsistent, a disappointing showing displayed in their last outing against Castlemagner incurred a loss to a low scoring tussle. They are sure to raise their game to a new level for this eagerly awaited battle yet Knocknagree are fancied to succeed.
