LADIES FOOTBALL

Araglen Desmonds Bui club are busy with a host of games in all ages from under-eight to intermedia­te. After victories over Bantry, Clonakilty and Rosscarber­y, the intermedia­tes lost out to Éire Óg in the county semi-final. The juniors will shortly face Castlehave­n in their semi-final.

The under-14 side came from 13 pts down to almost snatch victory over Bantry in a hectic game reecently in Kiskeam. The final scoreline was 7-7 to 6-9. Well done and hard luck that the whistle sounded before the got another chance to earn a draw at least. They deserved it.

The under-21 team defeated a fancied Mourneabbe­y in the County QF only to lose out to St Val’s in the semi-final.

The under-14s, 16 and 18 teams are all involved in the North Cork Leagues – fixtures on the club Facebook pages. Ladies’ football is the fastest growing sport in Ireland – new members are always welcome.

The club recently had representa­tives in both the Cork senior and under-16A teams with Shauna Kelly and Kate Dennehy.

The club wishes the best of luck to all the girls and boys about to sit their exams shortly.
