MALLOW IS GEARING UP FOR COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL
IMPRESSIVE LINE UP OF COUNTRY STARS TO GRACE THE STAGE AT CARRIGOON
TICKETS are being snapped up for what has been dubbed the ultimate ‘Summer Festival of North Cork’, with country music fans advised to get theirs to avoid missing out on seeing some of the genres top names live.
Preparations are already in full flow ahead of the inaugural North Cork Country Music Festival, which will take place on Sunday, August 20 at the Mallow GAA Complex in Carrigoon.
Over the course of a single day the venue will host a veritable ‘who’s who’ of the contemporary Irish country music scene, with stellar line-up including the blue eyed boy of the genre – the inimitable Nathan Carter.
Other artists set to grace the stage over the day will include Declan Nerney, Jimmy Buckley, Louise Morrissey and The Jonathan Owens Band.
Liz Foley, chair of the festival organising committee, said that given the tremendous level of support that country music gets across the North Cork region, deciding to hold the event was something of a no-brainer.
“The people of North Cork have always been avid followers of country music and we are delighted the complex will play host to what will be the music festival highlight of the region next summer,” said Liz.
“The standard of the facilities available to us at the GAA Complex also meant that it wasn’t a difficult decision to hold the event there. The committee is working hard to put together what promises to be an exceptional day for all the family,” she added.
As our photographs show, festival co-ordinator Barry John Ryan has been meeting with some of the artists set to play the event and he said all of them are really looking forward to coming to Mallow.
“They are very excited about coming to Mallow to entertain the huge country music fan base in North Cork. On site preparations are already well underway and with the fantastic line-up of artists set to play the festival we are anticipating it will be a wonderful day of truly top class entertainment,” said Barry John.
“Festival goers will enjoy easy access to and from the venue with ample free parking, a large dance floor and hospitality facilities including a full bar and food. With children under the age of 16 admitted free when accompanied by an adult, we anticipate this will be a popular day out for all the family,” he added.
Tickets for the festival, which will run from 1pm – 7pm, are available from the festival hotline on 022 50707 priced at a reasonable €25.
They are also available from local outlets including the GAA Complex, Dano’s SuperValu and Katie’s Newsagents in Mallow, Hanley’s Newsagents in Fermoy, Hyland’s Bookstore in Mitchelstown, Twohig’s, SuperValu in Kanturk and Oriel Print in Charleville.
