Meanwhile, the Mushera annual mass at St. John’s Well is also on this Friday evening, at 7:30pm. And, you can round off the night in lively fashion with a session of dancing at the Mushera Platform from 8:30pm.

Then on Sunday, June 25, there’s the Kilmichael Family Fun Day, from 2-5pm with fun for all the family. There are competitiv­e races and novelty races, bouncy castles, face painting and much more! It all takes place in the sports ground behind the Kilmichael Bar. Donations at the gate, all welcome. Meanwhile, in Baile Mhúirne. Sunday sees Siúlóid Mullach an Ois - the Mullaghani­sh Walk for well-being. This has at its heart the objective of promoting mental health and well-being. The walk will commence at ‘ The Mills Inn’ in Ballyvourn­ey and go to the peak of Mullaghani­sh Mountain, returning to the Mills Inn.

The following weekend, on Sunday, July 2, there’s an open garden at the home of Frank and Kitty Tanner, Raheen Newcestown (near the monument at Beal na mBlath) from 12 noon to 6pm. View their lovely garden and pick up a few ideas for your own, too. Refreshmen­ts will be served and it’s all in aid of the Irish Community Air Ambulance. On July 9 The annual Liz Lucey Memorial Vintage Run, Walk and Cycle in aid of Marymount Hospice will take place in Inchigeela. Great routes have been organised allowing participan­ts view the scenery available locally. This run includes tractors, cars, cyclists, walkers and motorcycle­s. Registrati­on for tractors, cars, cyclists and motorcycli­sts will take place at 11.30am sharp at Inchigeela Hall. Registrati­on for walkers will take place at Inchigeela GAA Pitch at 1pm with scenic walks for all levels from beginners to well seasoned walkers. Refreshmen­ts will be served on the day followed by a huge trad session in the evening. This is a great day for all the family!

There also numerous ongoing events taking place during the summer.

At Macroom Golf Club there’s juvenile golf coaching on Mondays 10am to 12noon; Tuesdays 3pm to 5pm; Wednesdays 3pm to 5pm. The club also has a summer camp (for 8 to 12 year olds) on July 10th to 12th from 3pm to 5.30 pm Enquiries to Tim on 083 1088152.

West Muskerry AC also has an athletics summer camp on July 24-27, from 10am to 2pm daily, at Clondrohid track.

For those with an interest in local history the magnificen­t Kilmurry Museum is open every Thurdays, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm, and is well worth a visit.

And for those who take their exercise at a more leisurely pace, Kilmurry Active Retirement host a walking

group every Monday evening from the local church car park 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Lee Valley Enterprise Board have been hosting weekly dance nights throughout June at the Riverside Park Hotel featuring favourite local acts. This Friday, 23rd June it’s the band Breakaway. Breakaway are a three-piece band consisting of Derry Kennedy, his daughter Fidelma & Colum Cronin. All three are very experience­d in the music scene and they cover a broad range of music styles including Country and Irish, ceilí/trad, pop, Rock ‘n Roll etc. They have built up a strong following throughout the social dancing scene all over Co Cork, Kerry, Waterford and across the Midlands.

Then on Friday, 30th June, Lee Sound bring the series to a close. Dance the night away with one of the areas most loved bands, The Lee Sound play all the Irish favourites with a country flavour!

A very enjoyable night is in store so don’t forget to wear your dancing shoes for plenty of waltzing and jiving. Tickets, at €10, are available on the door each night from 9:15pm.

The dances run from 9.30pm to 12 midnight.
