LOCAL LOTTERY

Buttevant soccer promotes a weekly monetary prize lottery. The jackpot currently stands at €14,200 and will rise by €100 weekly till won. The jackpot can be won on the choice of four lucky numbers to match the four numbers drawn on draw night. There are alternativ­e prizes for three numbers if they match any of the numbers drawn. The draw is held weekly on Thursday night at an appointed public venue. The money gained from the draw are used to help with the club expenses.

BINGO

The weekly bingo session continues on Monday Night in the local GAA hall where there are numerous monetary prizes to be won by those attending. There is a substantia­l monetary bingo jackpot to be won as well as an in-house lottery an extra sheet game and a 50/50 game. The session gets under ay each Monday night at 8.30 p.m. with the jackpot now around €2,100 and rising by €100 weekly. Your support will be welcome.

SOCCER

Buttevant Soccer Club will hold its’ annual social evening on Saturday, June 24, at 8 p.m. at the Crossroads, Buttevant. The annual club awards and relevant trophies will be presented on the night. Tickets at €20 are available from club secretary John Curtin. A three course meal and entertainm­ent will also be provided on the night. Contact 087 9266890 for relevant details.

EXAMS

The annual Junior Certifcate and Leaving Certificat­e State Examinatio­ns are continuing throughout the country and also in the secondary education centres in the Buttevant area. This is very trying and stressful period for students teachers and parents alike and our hopes and prayers are with the relevant students in particular.

These exams are the culminatio­n of the years’ of study put in by the pupils for their relevant certificat­ions. Good luck and best wishes are extended to all students in their relevant examinatio­ns and always remember achieving maximum points should not put students under too much stress, as life goes on regardless.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR

Defibrilla­tor training course is currently being organised in the Buttevant area at which people will be trained in the use of this lifesaving mechanism should an emergency arise. Dates and times for the course will be made public in the near future. Details from 086 2898622.

CCTV SYSTEM

A new and elaborate CCTV system has been installed in the town area of Buttevant recently. This system is the most modern and technicall­y efficient system available and is operating ‘24-7’. The system is connected to the local garda station and is also linked to systems in other stations throughout the North Cork Garda division.

The recordings of the happenings are kept on file for a period of one month. All happenings and occurrence­s can be viewed if required for security purposes by appointed Gardaí and persons of authorityw­ho may have access to the system.

SUMMER CAMP

Buttevant soccer club is promoting a club summers campagain this year. The camp will be held from Monday, July 17, to Friday, July 21, inclusive. HERITAGE GROUP

Buttevant heritage group has resumed its’ weekly tours of places of interest within the townand it’s environs. The local Church is the meeting point where the tours commence and assembly is usually around 03 p.m. Buttevant is this year celebratin­g 700years having being designated ‘a walled town’.
